Thanks to everyone who has purchased a copy of the book so far, either in print or Kindle. I must say that I&#8217;ve been overwhelmed by the response and even a few skeletons of pirates past have come out of the closet, wondering why I would tell some of these tales.<\/p>\n<p>Well, the truth hurts I guess. I am just thankful that no one has taken a cutlass to me yet for some of their misadventures, both in public and in the seeming privacy of their piratical bedrooms.<\/p>\n<p>If you haven&#8217;t picked up your copy yet, <em>Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Years Before the Mast<\/em>, is a no holds barred look at life as a pirate entertainer, from my days as a candidate, then member of the Seafair Pirates to the last months I lived on the Treasure Coast of Florida. It chronicles three decades in the little known piratical sub-culture that has exploded in size and reach since the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt one time we were the only pirates in the country here in Seattle,\u201d said Zerr. \u201cNow there are thousands of pirates throughout the country, from hysterical to historical. In Seattle, we were treated like rock stars in the 1980s when I was part of the group, and bending the rules, if not breaking the law, was the norm, not the exception.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMemoirs of a Buccaneer is filled with short stories where the truth is often stranger than fiction,\u201d he said. \u201cI really wanted to share bits of Seattle\u2019s history that would otherwise be forgotten, from parade mishaps to the inevitable groupies.
